San Diego Fourth of July fireworks show: A flaming failure

Congrats San Diego, you're in the news again.

It's just so typical, you put out this air of excitement, and promise an explosive night that nobody can forget and what happens? It's over before it even starts! On the upside San Diego, you may be in the news for a pretty big fail, however this time it does not involve a hack film maker having a break down and running through the streets naked so there's an improvement there, right?Completely lost are you? Alright, here is the story. Over the 4th of July, the city of San Diego prepared a massive fireworks display, as most proper cities do. Being a coastal town, the display was to take place on three barges in one of the main harbors. It was to be an impressive display for sure. The problem here is that there was a glitch in the timing program and as the show started, all three barges released their entire supply of fireworks simultaneously.

Yes, that means all the fireworks they planned to use over the course of the show went off all at once. The whole event lasted ooh about 15 seconds. While many people were pretty pissed when the show abruptly ended, I personally think the display was pretty special. I can't say I've seen that many fireworks go off at once...well except for factory accidents, but then those tend to be in the day time and not nearly as impressive.

Just in case anyone was wondering, nobody was horridly disfigured, or even hurt in the bumble. Other than a few organizers' pride, but then who said city planners had that anyway?
